I forgot to even make an analysis at Oshkosh.

What are folks doing for windshield visors?
a) nothing?
b) Rosen?
c) other aircraft visor?
d) used visors from a 81 Chevy Chevette?

I wish...

Right now, I use my arm, while holding my hand on the center
post of the windshield. I talked to Mike Fiske at Rosen again
while at OSH and he told me once again that they have too
big of a contract right now with a couple of projects they're
doing so their engineering dept. just doesn't have time for our
-10 visors yet. So don't hold your breath on those for a while.
I dont' know about others, but I could sure use some and will
probably build my own soon if I can't get something in the
near future.

I see Spruce has generic "homebuilt" Rosen visors for less than $200 . .

Would any of the current Rosen visors be adaptable? We have a set of Rosens
in a C-182
but I am not that far along with the -10 to explore that idea.

I've been in communications with the sales manager0 from Rosen and he says they are working on visors for the RV10. He told me they0 are struggling with how to attach them to the canopy. I've sent him off a couple0 of ideas but he says they have several other projects they are working on so the0 RV10 isn't getting top priority right now.

I've had Rosen in my last two planes and I really0 liked them. Other than that I may have to fall back on the old stick on the0 window thingies.

Maybe the gentleman who is machining the hardware parts for0 the 10's could build a visor system. I can't remember his name at the moment.0 The hard part would be the mount and rotating joint. Sliding aluminum0 track with a locking device should be easy. Visor material should be easy0 to come by. I had Rosen in my 172 and they sure make flying safer. I bet most0 people would buy them if they where available at a fair price.0

How about a fixture that would clamp to the top of the centerbrace
support that ties the top of the canopy to the fwd fuse? Should be a
simple clamp-on device with tabs on either side for mounting the visors to.

Replying to both the below messages....

Deems, yes, that's one of the 2 options I was working with Rosen
on. The tube is about .895 diameter, and they don't have any
clamps of that size made yet. The bar is set a couple inches
back from the windshield, so it would need to have a T shape
behind the clamp, with the visors attached forward of the bar,
and when they swing up they'd have to be of the right size to clear
the door and side windows. That's the arrangement I have been
working with them on, but everything halted with their busy
contracts. The 2nd option I gave them was a screw in hinge
that would mount to the canopy top just behind the windshield
on that foam filled ridge. That would work too, but wouldn't
be swing able. FWIW, I don't think it's necessary to have them
swing to the side...if it were just available forward that
would be good.

Wayne, who's the guy you've been talking to? I've been
talking to Mike Fiske, and he's in direct communication
with the engineering team too. He also worked the booth
at SNF and OSH, but that was after I had already tracked
him down that I saw him there. I sure wish they had the
time. They did say though that if we were to come up with
everything, cutting the actual visors wouldn't be a big
problem.

How about machining a block of aluminum that is thin in the
center that has the four bolts holes that fasten the bar to the canopy.
Then the metal hanging out on each side could have screw holes to attach
the visors on each side.

Thank You
