Have you ever compared fuel burn indicated with amount needed to refill in
cases like this? I know the boost pump is not used a whole lot, but if it
truly is overflowing fuel, then that is a waste. Also, if the engine is
running, you won't see the overflow, probably, as it will be in the airflow
out the cowl and with the exhaust.

Usually my indicated fuel burn is a small amount higher than the actual fuel
burn after a trip: 0.1 - 0.2 gals.
The indicated gph reading can go from 8 gph to 12 gph just by turning on the
electric fuel pump.
Here is an excerpt from Matt Dralle's advertisement for a damper he sells
for this purpose:
"Pulsation Damper for use in fuel systems that have excessive pulsation of
the fuel stream due to electric and mechanical pumps. Reduces artificially
high flow readings while boost pump is enabled. Includes stainless steel
damper, tee fitting, and instructions."
