Two separate issues:
18T harnesses (front and rear) with Hookers
It is not easy, but possible, to dismantle the inertia mechanism, and replace the Russian strap with the Hooker strap.
A simpler solution is to leave part of the Russian strap that is attached to the inertia reel, and then to join on (but only with someone experienced in these things) a shortened Hooker strap. In this way, when extended, you will obviously see the original Russian strap, but in normal use, and when retracted you only see the Hooker. (I would also say that we tend to cover the seats in leather, and so this also covers the inertia mechanism).
Yak-52
I see that people are talking about old 52 buckles. I am not sure which ones are being spoken of, but the first type, which was held shut with a lever, caused a number of fatalities when accidently released, and there is a Specific Service Bulletin prohibiting its use.
