The nose gear friction pad on our Glasair FT has noticeably worn. (2800 hours / 13 years.) There's a slight step where it bears against the bottom of the stop plate.
And, over all these years, it has absorbed oil. Some of the oil can be leeched out by soaking the pad in solvent, but I'm thinking I should probably look for a new pad. We get a slight shimmy as we come to a stop, although I also discovered that the hardware holding the friction pad was loose. That would explain the slight side to side shimmy.
I'll plan to email NewGlasair about it, but thought I would ask if anyone has found an alternate source for the FT nose gear friction pad.
Thanks,
