I have installed AN-6 fittings and 3/8 inch piping, I find 133 L/hr free flow at the engine connection or 35 gal/hr.
I have done many ground acceleration checks at full power. The engine accelerate fast and pull very hard with no hesitation at all.
I know that the recommendation for a free flow check is of 125% of maximum flow. I wonder if I should use an electric fuel pump to achieve this number or redo the piping.
I should get my final inspection done soon and I dont think that 133 L/hr will be accepted even if the engine is running fine with the actual hardware

Are the 133 L/Hr during a ground run up and not an actual take off?

Manifold pressure and resulting fuel consumption figures will increase
during the take off.

Another point to remember Sylvain, the specifications from the M14
manual are also based on operation at sea level on a standard day.

Here are numbers I got on takeoff in my Model 12 today. It was hot at OLV this afternoon (87 deg and 29.85 for a DA of 2356)
As was earlier pointed out, the static ff at the start of the run is a good bit lower than at the end of the departure end doing about 200 mph.
2950 RPM
39.8 " MP
fuel flow was about 40 at start of takeoff and climbed to 46.

I forgot to add that it is a PF engine and the numbers come from a Grand Rapids EIS.

That is just about the same fuel burn I had flying a 1425hp T28. Use to figure 50gph on it. Those 400 hp M-14 engines must be pretty thirsty. My dads old twin Beech used 40gph with 2 450hp 985s.

I forgot to add that it is a PF engine and the numbers come from a Grand Rapids EIS.

Are the 133 L/Hr during a ground run up and not an actual take off?

Manifold pressure and resulting fuel consumption figures will increase
during the take off.

Another point to remember Sylvain, the specifications from the M14
manual are also based on operation at sea level on a standard day.

I know that the recommendation for a free flow check is of 125% of

I should get my final inspection done soon and I dont think that 133

In my Yak 55M I run at 76% RPM in cruise with the throttle set at the same position as the prop lever at lower altitudes.  As MP drops at higher altitudes, the throttle goes to firewall and back about ˝ inch. Invariably, fuel consumption is near enough to 1 litre per minute. (That setting is higher than the M14P book rate for the Nominal Cruise numbers but the Yak 55M in my opinion does not cruise well at the lower airspeed associated with the M14P book rate). It  makes for easy airborne mental arithmetic. Check the wing route fuel gauges which are calibrated in litres, add them up and you immediately know how many minutes you have to go before the engine quits.  I don’t have a fuel flow meter but the stats are based on multi leg long cross country trips knowing the flight time and topping off the tanks before and after each leg.  That seems to tally somewhat well with your 15.5 gph. But is that US gallons or imperial gallons?

Full power aerobatics at near sea level is altogether another story.  My stats are less reliable but I  see rates as quoted at 2.4 l/min or around 45 gph – essentially the book rate.

In the absence of a fuel flow meter to confirm the actual rate, as we all know, this depends on density altitude, the jets installed, time to land at lower power, etc. As a rule of thumb, it’s not far off. And the Russians have done their homework and I have no reason to doubt their book numbers. Alternatively, my experience, less rigourously, confirms their numbers.

Here are numbers I got on takeoff in my Model 12 today. It was hot at OLV this
afternoon (87 deg and 29.85 for a DA of 2356)

As was earlier pointed out, the static ff at the start of the run is a good bit
lower than at the end of the departure end doing about 200 mph.

2950 RPM
39.8 " MP
fuel flow was about 40 at start of takeoff and climbed to 46.

Manifold pressure and resulting fuel consumption figures will increase
during the take off.
