				Howdy All,

I'm building my fuel tanks using rivets and ProSeal {or similar} and
have everything figured out except for a threaded flange for the
filler. The M142 used by Zenith has only about 5-6 mm flange width.
Is that enough room to drill for rivets or no?
Wicks lists the SPRL-TF but I can't find specs or a drawing of it
anywhere. Is it big enough to rivet?

 Thanks
 Steve

				Hi Steve,

I'm making some tanks for my 801 and am going with proseal and rivets too. My plan is to seal and rivet the filler neck flange even though edge distance will be minimal. The attached picture has some details and measurements. I believe that the 05-1056 part from aircraft spruce is the same flange that Zenith sells and is compatible with the SPRL caps.

Would you mind posting pics of your tank build as things progress?

 Best regards,
 Ben

Thanks for the photo Ben. That is exactly what I had planned on doing except for the solid rivets I'll get the flange from Wicks and see if it is the same.
Here are photos of what I've done to date:

				Hi Stephen,

The picture of the external clecoed joint on your tank is a strongest
joint for TIG welding if you have someone that knows the process. I
welded my tanks and the holes for clecos were welded shut after the
 seams were done.

Just a thought, but the idea of worrying about riveted fuel tanks and
using Pro Seal was not a concern that I could reconcile. Aluminum has
such a large expansion and contraction coefficient that a riveted tank
really needs a lot of them close together to stay leak proof not to
 mention the corners.
