Dwight,
This latch-up looks a bit like some Cutler-Hammer
operators I worked with in the early eighties. I believe
that there are a few lamps that will fit your housing.
I mention this because a variety of voltages and wattages
gives you a choice of lamp brightness and lamp longitivity
before you even have to think about lamp dimmers.
What I worked with came with a lamp removal tool.
Note that the lamp is a bayonet base and has to be pushed
in and then twisted to remove. Note also that the lamp
has flat sides. The factory supplied removal tool was a three
inch lenght of tygon tubing!! HTH

What I do *not* want to do is install these without a good idea of
the servicability of the lights. I have fiddled with them but am not
sure I know how to (a) get them apart or (b) replace the bulb.
It is the latter I'm most interested in, and I believe it'll take the

former for me to accomplish the replacment.

Larry,
Thanks for the info. I've discovered that the one I have can easily be
removed with fingers. As is the light won't work for me ... it has a 28V
bulb and I'm building a 14V plane. HOWEVER, through the magic of Google
I tracked down a mini-bayonet T-4 1/2 size bulb that is 12V and I ordered
some. We'll see how well they seem to work on my 12V bench supply. Smile If
they work ok, I'll order a handful of lights (if I'm willing to order
25 of the little buggers, they are less than a buck each) and will have
replacement stock for the life of the airplane. Smile
