				Andrew,

That is a standard Vans tailwheel spring. Fastest way to get one is to
find a builder who won't need his for a while. Snag that and get Van's
to send him a new one. Same one is on the RV3 thru RV7.

When you get the new one, you will have to drill it to the hole that
retains it in the sleeve which is up inside your tailcone. You must do
that without making the hole in either piece oversize. Best thing here
is to put in a taper pin, rather than the an3 bolt in the Vans
plans. That will require a taper reamer. That could also be done
later, after you get the bird home.

 Good luck!

The Stock RV4 (straight) tail spring works great when combined with the
 Aviation
Products Inc. dual fork tailwheel assembly. Mine works great. Vince
 Frazier
also has a nice tailwheel setup on his website. Check it out...

 Andrew,

If you have rabbit holes to watch out for, maybe you should have a look
at the monster fork that I made for Greg Illes. You can find it on the
vansairforce forums, just search on monster tailwheel. I can make one
 for you if you like.

You can see all of the other tailwheel stuff that I offer at this URL
 www.flyboyaccessories.com

If you've still got the stock Van's tailwheel on your plane (or on the
part that is broken off!), do yourself a huge favor and buy one of my
tailwheels. If not mine, buy one from Doug Bell. Either one will give
you much better obstacle clearance and improved handling.

I keep my stuff in stock and ready to ship. Lots of other RV stuff in
 the store too.

 Thx,

 Vince Frazier
