My nose wheel developed a shimmy so I took apart the nose wheel assembly and noticed the Allen stop bolt and the wear pad hold on screw were both lose allowing the plate to move that allowed the nose wheel to easily move from side to side. The holes in the aluminum plate that the wear pad was glued to where slightly elongated and part of that wear pad between the bolt and the screw area delaminated. I would suggest roughing up the aluminum plate before gluing the wear pad on. I reinstalled the screw and Allen bolt with star washers. I took the suggestion about using shims on the axle cap/ shaft assembly so that the long through bolt could be torque down with the larger axle nut called for by Glasair Corp.
