Output of the Rotax internal generator is 18A. 80% of that is

Noel,

Experience from the field and from the lab seems to indicate that 12 A permanent load is the most one should expect from the Rotax Ducati regulator to avoid overheating and self-destruction.

So we'd better keep the loads to a minimum.

In this case I agree.... Go with the experience and limit the load to 12A
maximum. If you need more capacity than that, install a larger alternator.
2A (at) 12V may not seem to be very much.... Until you see how that can burn a
wire.
