Y'all L-29 guys crack me up... I think you're a friendlier set than a lot
of the L-39 drivers out there.

Somebody here mentioned "fly-in" and in working up my annual program
letter, I see that the weekend of May 13th is going to be the date for the
3rd annual L-29 fly-in at Lancaster, TX (near Dallas). Mark your
calendars.

Jon

PS. I read an old interview with a Bulgarian Air Force colonel who said,
"Flying the MiG-21 is like kissing a tiger: the pleasure is little and the
risk great."

Not enough people brought there L-29s... and there's 4 L-39s based on the
field. I think L-29s out-numbered L-39s, tho'.

YOU can assist in correcting this deficiency this year. Smile

All L-29 guys, how many are on the west coast? Let's have a L-29 gathering on the west coast somewhere. Jet A is cheap at VCB $2.90 a gallon. I know there is 5 or 6 of us in Northern CA that I already fly with. And for all the L-29 guys in the country I have patches, aircraft stickers and hats made up for VX-29 The Rushnbears if anybody is interested in the stuff. it's a squadron (if you want to call it that) that we formed here in CA. Does anyone have a date for the CJAA west coast gathering? I will also have my site up soon www.AeroL29.com which will have forum and anything and everthing to do with the delfins.

Any L-29's on the East coast? I'd love to get a walk around sometime. I'm in
SC. I saw one at Sun N Fun last year. I loved seeing it fly, and would
really like to get a up close and personal look at one!

For the fly-in, do you still have to send the local FSBO 'notice' and
ask permission to fly to other than the home airport with you jet?
If not, does that require an op limit change or was it statutory?

Thanks,
David M.

Fax the letter 48 hours in advance and tell them you're going to a fly-in.
"Tell Them" not ask them.

Kingman AZ would be good.

Jill and Carl Hayes are in Kingman now and they work on Yak's, so if anyone
had a problem they would be able to help out with tools/equipment.

2's in!

If anybody is in touch with Carl Hayes, maybe he can work out a deal for
rooms and cheap fuel. If we can find gas cheap enough we could formate a
little?

No. Went to Minnesota. Fell off the cradle during shipping. Got totaled.
Owner is taking parts off as he needs them on another airplane he bought.

Group,

Since you are talking about a fly-in in AZ, why not make it the CJAA convention.
Someone mentioned that last year the convention turned into an L-39 gathering.
That is because you L-29 drivers decided not to go. Show up, then it will be
an L-29 event!

Because its just some guys getting together to have fun. No politics, no
military tours, no organization - A Complete out-of-control weekend. CJAA
things usually don't involve flying. We can talk 100% L-29s. Maintenance,
performance, lying and big fish tails. We could invite Casa's, fougas,
Provost and anything else that cost under $80,000 and cruise speed under
290kts. Blue collar jets!
The only thing that involves any organizational meetings will be a briefing
if we fly formation. We do have some FAST leads and check pilots that said
they want be there should you desire a FAST card. Otherwise they want to go
hang out like everybody else.

Only my opinion. I am but one vote. Sorry, no voting, only venting.
