				| This has nothing to do with Yaks directly but many of you were at
Spencer several years ago where my GIB was my youngest son, Seth, who
was 12-years-old at that time. You also may remember his penchant for
operating my CJ6A from the back seat while doing his best to maintain
+6G in all maneuvers. (Oh to be 12 again and not be able to feel any G.)

Seth just received an appointment to the US Naval Academy. His 6-year
goal has been to attend the USNA and to become a pilot in the Navy. He
will be following in the footsteps of his grandfather (USN pilot, 21
years, 14 carriers, axial and angle decks, recip and jet), great uncle
(USMC Pilot, angle deck, jets), and uncle (RIO in F-14s).

No, I don't know where *I* went wrong.

				| Brian,
You as a RIO reminds me of an accident report from an F4 on QRA in the UK.
Departed from RAF Conninsby. While maneuvering the pilot dropped his wax
pencil, lent forward to pick it up. The EWO looked up from whatever it is
that he does back there and saw no pilot, banged out. The pilot surprised by
the sudden rush of air banged out also. You would be surprised quite how far
an F4 will fly with no input from the pilot.

The aircraft was XV414 of 23 Sqn Flown by Flt Lt S (yes that's Steve) Martin
 and Flt Lt N Morgan,

Brian congrats to your boy, have him get the fuge film for the enjoyment of
 the list.

				| Congratulations to your son. Someone in your family tree had a positive
impact on the young fella! Kidding Brian, you and your wife have a
something to be proud of. Good luck to him.

				| In the back of the F4 the EWO can't really see a great deal, basically he
gets a small bit of a view of the pilot. The canopy is a two part affair so
the pilot goes then the EWO, see attached.

When we read the original accident report we almost fell off the chair.
Another one was when a pilot banged out of his Hunter and if I remember
 wrote

"On my decent I decided to experiment with the steering toggles on the
 chute.....

The ensuing oscillations convinced me not to experiment further."
