I intend to install a constant speed prop to my Zodiac XL / Rotax 912ULS.

Does anybody use a constant speed prop? Rospeller has a very nice and not too expensive prop... (www.rospeller-aero.de). Woodcomp RS2000 has not the very best reputation. How is the new RS3000? Anybody using a MT (very expensive though) or Hoffmann Prop?

Cheers
Martin

Very nice plane !

I dont know about constant speed props, but if you are looking for a high performance and smooth prop look at the Kiev Hot Prop. I have not tried mine yet, but I have got it Smile It supposedly is much smoother and a good performer.

Hi Martin,
Good to see a list established for Rotax engines. I have been following the
Europa list for some time as it seems the most active and has had good
information on Rotax engines.
I have an Esqual with 180hrs on it. It uses a Rospeller 2 blade electric
c/s. The performance is very good especially on initial acceleration and
climb out. It appears to be very well made. I have had some problems with
the wires breaking inside the insulation at the terminals on the electric
motor due I think to excessive vibration. I have recently upgraded the
wires from 22g to 18g which I hope will cure this. The prop controller is
made by Filser in Germany and a negative is the small display and lack of
backlighting. I have heard that it is being upgraded. TBO is 600 hrs on
mine. I hope this might be extended if they have a history of satisfactory
operation and little wear.

Malcolm,
Which blades are you using?
Can you give us some performance figures. IAS against RPM and MAP.
Thanks,
Paul.

Check out Airmaster. We have one on our Europa and it works well. It is
recommended by Europa Aircraft. Full feathering.

BTW, I looked everywhere on the Zodiac page, and I cannot find the prices anywhere. What is the cost of the airframe kits for that plane ? How much is the quickbuild option ?

We have a Woodcomp (ground adjustable) prop on the Allegro and it is a
good prop and quiet. I don't have experience with their constant speed.

I also have an in-flight adjustable GSC prop. on my Titan Tornado. It
is a great prop. In my opinion, unless you have all the money in the
world to spend, an in-flight adjustable prop gives you the performance
of a constant speed at a much less expensive price and much less
maintenance. It is simple and easy to operate, just not automatic.

Hello Martin,

Please take a look at www.smartavionics.com where you will find info on constant speed controllers for Arplast PV50 and other propellers (Rospeller, Woodcomp, etc.) More than 80 have been sold all around the world.

I have an Arplast PV50 on my 912 powered Europa and I can't fault its performance.

Unfortunately, I have a short-term component supply problem so I can't actually ship any CS units at the moment but I expect this to be sorted before too long.

Regards,

Mark

Thanks for everybody's info!!!

Is somebody flying the Rospeller Prop (2 or 3 blade)? The system seems to be very simple and reliable.

Cheers Martin

Check out this url. It has quite a comprehensive article on fitting a c/s
prop to a Europa. It is some 3-4years old I think.

(at)Malcolm: Thank you for the link of the Rospeller-equipped Europa.

A good friend of mine flies a REMOS G3 with Rotax 912ULS and Rospeller 2-blade prop. He logged 400 hours so far and is VERY happy with the engine/prop-combination.

How does that compare to the original Remos prop?
