Hmmmm . . . did an archeological dig through
the 'inventory'. Seems we never did work a
task with that technology on a 0.100" pitch.

I'm a bit surprised that the original designers
applied open-barrel, crimp pins for grabbing
thermocouple wires.

Achieving gas-tight connections with longevity
is relatively easy with copper terminals
mashed down on copper conductors. Not so easy
with thermocouple wire having much greater
harness than copper.

I've never attempted to incorporate anything
less than 4-quadrant, closed barrel pins
on thermocouples.

Ebay is always worth a look.
Molex edge connector

My permanent solution, for experimental applications, is a soldering iron, some milspec wire, and a subD connector.

Agreed. This work-around calls for creating a pendant
cable terminated in a d-sub connector. Appliance end
is soldered directly to the ecb connector traces. Use
19 strand wire (re: mil-spec reference). Expose only
the smallest practical stranding length (~0.050") and
tack it onto the trace with the deepest positioning
possible. Then strain relief the row of wires right
to the ECB with E-6000. I may have some pictures
around her illustrating that techique.

Terminate far end with a 15-pin, d-sub incorporating
solid, 4-quad crimped pins. I'll venture a guess that
electron gods willing and other failures don't rise,
you just might coax a few more decades of service out
of this electro-whizzy.
