Is it possible to repair this gauge?
few months back, oil pressure needle started going up and down, very quick.
At the end died and stayed at the bottom.

Replaced it with the gauge from the back seat.

And it worked.

Now after a few months in use, the front one, the oil pressure is starting to act up again.
Are this guages repairable?

Check your oil pressure sending units.

It is possible it could be your oil pressure transducer is acting up. Try swapping the cannon plugs and see what happens. While you are there, inspect the cannon plug itself. FYI, the transducers are located on the right ride secondary firewall accessed from avionics bay door.

Mine did the same thing, so I did the same as you. Switched the fore and aft cannon plugs and still no pressure. Initial thoughts were gauge, but after some testing and lots of help from friend (Graves & Wrobel) believed it was the transducers. Stole a transducer from Wrobel's CJ and that solved the problem. If there is another CJ around try that before you order a new gauge.

Maybe I'll send Wrobel a new transducer anonymously and he'll never know that twas I who slick-eeed his oil transducer... Smile

Word of the day "slick-eeed"
Origin: Korea or maybe Japan.
Meaning(s): stole, swiped, took, unauthorized acquisition of someone's property.

Is the oil pressure transducer in the CJ6 compatible with one in the Yak 52?

Had the intermittent oil guage reading on my cj which got progressively worse until it failed altogether.

When we opened up the sender unit it was full of brown water and crud? Cleaned it all out, re- sealed the cover and it came back to life.

Worth a look.

Hope this helps
