I've seen this before . . . field collapse spikes
on a beefy relay have been known to irritate the
crowbar ovm. Had a Europa builder in Wichita having
a similar problem with the avionics master relay
in his EXP Bus system. Tacked a diode across the
relay coil and order was restored in the universe.
