Jos - I seem to be able to see the postings in question OK. The only
thing I see related to HTML display in Eudora is "Automatically
download HTML graphics", which I have always had disabled.
However, I have for some time been experiencing a sprinkling of
messages which Eudora flags as having encoding errors. I wonder if
anyone else is experiening the same symptom? The message I get always
seems to be:
"1 encoding error were found. Turn on the 'Fetch' button in the icon
bar and check mail again to retrieve a raw version."
Despite this, the message always looks fully readable with nothing
obviously missing.
If I do ask it to fetch the raw version, then it displays the HTML
source code, which is much harder to read. (I must admit that I've
not done a W3C validation on one of these to check if there's really
something wrong with it.)
Anyway, I mentioned this issue to matt Dralle a short while back, and
he thought maybe it was caused by something he'd recently changed. He
went back to the previous configuration, but the symptoms continued,
so he reverted again.
I'm now wondering if all the posts with this symptom are generated
from the europaowners forum.
As far as I can tell, the symptoms started appearing on 29th August.
If it helps in the diagnosis, I can supply (off-list) a list of some
postings that have shown the symptoms.

I'd support that request in any case. I cannot recall seeing an
e-mail message that was actually improved by being HTML-encoded,
although I've seen many whose information transfer efficiency were
severely degraded by so doing.

For us dial-up people, the forum is a much less convenient way to see
what's going on, but is OK as a temporary workaround. I think I've
previously likened it to making a special trip to the Post Office
every day to see if they have any mail for me; whereas an e-mail list
is like having the postman deliver everything without me having to go
looking for it. Going to the PO might be acceptable if one was
involved in just one discussion forum, but for the 10 or 12 that I
susbscribe to, it would be totally impractical. Imagine having to go
to a different sorting office to collect your mail, depending on who
it was coming from.
