All of our aircraft have military backgrounds in foreign countries with unknown, uncertain histories, and I wanted to see if anyone in the L-29 community had any experience with eddy current tests on the L-29 for wing spar and stabilizer spar integrity (cracks, fatigue, metallurgical defects, etc.) similar to what has been required by the FAA with the Beechcraft T-34 Mentor? I realize there has not been any failures in regard to the L-29's wings, and that such a test probably isn't really an issue for straight and level "$600 hamburger flights", but with aerobatics being flown I would be interested if there is anyone that has had eddy current integrity tests performed on their L-29 and the results of such data.
Yes, I realize the plane is built like a tank and stressed up to many G's, but as they say, an ounce of prevention.....
If there is anyone out there that has any technical knowlege of this process please email me directly
Thanks.
