I've looked in the parts catalogs for the CJ and haven't found one that shows the bottom of the central fuel collection tank.

On the bottom of that tank there's a cap with a 36mm nut and through the center of that nut is a 15-20mm drain device, the top of which presses against the hole in the bottom of the central tank.

On my tank that drain device is metal-on-metal with the central tank.

I strongly suspect that there was some kind of gasket or rubber washer between the drain device and the central tank.

Any ideas on what material that gasket/washer should be?  Or what I should replace it with? Cork? Rubber? I'm thinking I can go with a 1-2mm Neoprene washer, or some of that blue gasket 1/16". Which would be a better material?

Thanks,
Jon

Jon
You are correct there is a round gasket in the bottom of the consumption tank.  When I went through mine I got a new one from Doug.
I would reach out to Carl who has the parts business now.  I am sure be has one.   If not you cut one from any suitable material for AV gas.
I put a photo of my old one as I removed it from the tank.  You can download it and blow it up to see the thickness. It is pretty thick.

Another view.

I got one of these gaskets from Doug a while ago. Yet to be installed. Next visit to the hangar I will measure it.
