Hello everyone.
Quick question. My M-14p has an issue that my mechanic has not been able to figure out.
When the oil gets hot the oil pressure drops to zero when the throttle is closed or idle (around 30% rpm), this is only an issue after landing, cruise oil pressure is good and there is no loss of oil while flying for an hour straight and level.
We did find a screw that allow us to turn the oil pressure higher but seems to only work at RPMs over 40%.
Changing the oil to higher grade just makes little improvemnet, so is there anything that can be adjusted in the oil pump for low RPM so the RPM gets so close to zero?
By the way what I mean by zero is around the zero mark but not below it like when the instrument is off:

When you say that cruise oil pressure is "good" – I assume a minimum of five bar? But minimum pressure at idle is one bar, but if it is good at operating rpm, then I suspect it is a sender unit/gauge problem if it is falling to 0 at idle. And, you're correct that there is a conventional adjustment on the pressure-relief valve on the oil pump to adjust pressure, but this only becomes effective at operating pressures. Richard.

Thanks Richard, I was praying for your reply Smile
Yes min of 5 bar. I will discuss this with my mechanic.
It narrows it down a lot.
Thanks a lot,
Javier
