Y'all,

I've seen two oil outlet fittings slowly work themselves loose now because the lock washer or star washer didn't quite do its job.

I'm not a fan of nylock nuts on aircraft, so I'm looking for other options.

Anybody have an opinion on "JAP Nuts" aka "Jet Nuts" for use in this situation? I've found M5 jet nuts that meet the MS21042 MIL-SPEC and I'm thinking of using those.

Jon,
Those will work.  Metric, steel/cad plated (f you can find cad plated
metric nuts) lock nuts will also work great.  Instead of ny-lock nuts,
you could also use (if you can find them in metric sizes) fiber lock
nuts which are widely used on standard category and experimental (read
kit aircraft) aircraft.
