I took a look at the pictures and video on the linked article.  I can't tell much except it does appear to be a 601xl and the wings are still attached where they belong.

The pilot supposedly hit trees at full power but I would like to know what led up to that.

If the address does not print you can google plane crash in Franklin, Tn.

From the helicopter video, it looks like a lousy day to fly. Poor visibility and low ceiling, it looks like IFR conditions. There’s also a tall cell tower near the crash site, apparently close to the flight path of the plane before the crash. If those same conditions were in effect when the crash took place, that might have been a factor. Or it just might be a lousy video. --

The registration shows a MT address.

Montana???

I live in Relatively close from the crash site. I’m hangered at Shelbyville, SYI. It’s been said he came in at 45 degrees.

As others have said, the plane appears to be together so failure of components as far as what most are concerned for is not there. It’s a small debris field.

As far as Weather that day, it was not a day I would fly, but I really don’t know what the ceiling was.

I’m watching for reports as well.

Thoughts and prayers to his family for their loss.

I looked up the weather for that time at BNA and it appears to have been marginal VFR, to IFR. This sounds a lot like it might have been a VFR into IFR situation without an IFR flight plan.
