Still looking for any suggestions regarding engine starting.
Start switch provides a click.
There is power to the start box. None leaving to starter. (ST)
Tried several different start boxes same response. Nothing
Cleaned connections on cannon plugs going from cockpit back. Something is not giving signal to start box to begin cycle. Do not start light goes out. Same result battery or ground power

I may or may not have done this to an L29 in Lancaster and there may or may not be a video on my google drive of it... Take the cover off the starter box, get some car jumper cables, put one on each of the 2 very large lugs that attach to the relay... have someone sit up front, turn on all normal switches (batt, master, eng) take the other end of the cables and get out from under the plane, touch the 2 jumper cable ends together to complete the circuit and when the engine spins up, press the air start switch, remove cables... if you dont blow yourself up... the engine by this point might have started

very political.
So if you did this, would the rest of the start sequence proceed as normal including starter cut-out?
And IF this was done, is the box bad or?
Did it work?

I may or may not be interested. And impressed.

It started because i more or less bypassed the start relay and got the engine to spool up. The rest of the 29 is pretty much all mechanical so when the engine was spinning by powering up the starter and then the air start was hit, it manually activated the igniters and started the engine. But to answer your question, no it didnt fix the situation and a new start box didnt either. This was a plane that rick prindle was selling, its since become a parts plane. Id check all your breakers, cycle them, all the switches in the L29 are breaker switches. Its possible ones tripped or weak.

If your engine doesnt turn over and your igniters dont come on, check your start box, theres a disc that turns around and activates different functions and then returns to a home position. Its easy to remove with a large flatw blade and safety wire cutter.

If your igniters come on but no spin, its probably your starter.

So when you touched the jumper cables together you get an instant 400amps? As opposed to the normal start sequence
of 200amps then 400? Hard on ye old starter shaft I would think.
Start button working?
Plug in external power and try it. just something else to try.

Rick Prindle, ah ha!

So is it the parts airplane that you are trying to start? Why?

This was about 2-1/2 years ago when i was on the hunt for a 29. It was the dark blue one on the ramp in lancaster. Lets just say the photos were taken from really far away. After it started he cycled the flaps and hydraulic fluid was spraying out the turtleback. But it did the same exact thing the OP mentioned, click clicked and nothing else. Zach bought the plane as a project, he may have figured it out, not sure. I know we tried a spare start box from cwam and no change.

And yea 777ZE is mine, just need to get my rating done

Did you guys ever figure out the issue? We have one doing the exact same thing. Tried multiple start boxes, has voltage going into the box. Makes the click upon pressing the starter button but nothing else happens. If you guys found a smoking gun I would love to hear about it.
