Hey guys,
Has anyone had a problem with their canopy lock system? Went to fly yesterday and the canopy warning light wouldn't go off when I locked the canopy. Naturally, the canopy seal inflate won't inflate either. Verified the canopy locks are closed and locked and the handle is full forward and rotated up into the correct locked position. I assume there is some sort of micro switch that senses the handle position but couldn't find anything in the service manual or the parts book on it. There's a small metal box on the forward end of the locking handle shaft with three or four wires going into it. I assume this is the micro switch but the metal box looks to be completely sealed.  Could someone enlighten me and/or does someone have a schematic before I start tearing into this blindly ?
Also, after verifying the canopy was locked, I went ahead and flew and was doing touch and goes and during one of the touch and goes the tail failed to re-trim. When I brought the flaps up after departure the nose went abruptly up. Brought the gear back down and flaps back to 15 and this relieved the stick pressure enough so I could keep level and I started back to homebase 15 miles away. While enroute, the tail finally retrimed. When I got back on the ground the tail trim seemed to be be working again as verified by the tail trim light illuminating. There was a previous post about microswitches in the wing that signal the tail the flap position. Would someone be so kind as to point me in the general direction/location of the microswitches in the wing? May just need to be cleaned.
Thanks for any info you can supply.
Anthony

Micro switch is at the end of the red lock handle. Check that

Thanks Bob. Yes, that's the metal box I referred to. It looks to be sealed but I haven't removed the lock handle assy yet to see if there is an access on the back side.

The flap switch is under the LH wing band.

In my case, this switch was stuck in the UP position, so the trim did not work. The switch needs to send a signal that the flaps are moving before the trim moves.

When you remove the top LH band, look for the flap actuator and you will find two switches, an UP switch and a DOWN switch. I would suspect that in your case the DOWN switch may be the faulty one as this happened while you were raising the flaps.

Just a guess.

Hope this helps.

Hi D,
I'm in Virginia.
I checked the flap switches in the LH wing as you directed. All seem to be working. There are 4 switches that I could see. 2 are on the wing rib, one up front and one to the rear. I assume those are limit switches that stop the flap movement at the up position and the full down position. The other 2 are on the bottom of the wing and are activated by the flap mechanism. All my switches have a rubber like protective covering on the plunger except for the switch that is compressed when the flaps are up. It looks to be a little dirty so maybe it stuck and disabled the system. Guess I'll clean and see what happens.
Thanks again for the direction.
Best Regards
Anthony
