Well we got it sold. For several weeks we had no activity and then 3 guys wanted it. It’ll be gone 2-28-15. What are you flying now.? Dennis, my partner bought a Davis project and is refurbishing it as we speak.

See ya later,
Leroy Wheeler

Hi Leroy,
I sold my 601 two years ago. Got $31500. for it so you have a real bargain that should go quickly.
I used Barnstormers and got a lot of traffic on it and sold it within 3 weeks. I expected more like two years.
That site is probably the best one for viewership.
Very best of luck.

After 5 years of enjoying our Zodiac Dennis and I have decided to put it up for sale. We are asking $22,000 for the aircraft. You can see many pics of it by

Hi Leroy,
Pleased to see you had success with your 601. In an off market the sale of an aircraft always seems a long shot, but somehow there‘s always money out there.
I’m flying a 1964 Cherokee for the last three years. I’ve spent more time working on it than flying. Lee likes it better because it’s heavy, (has more mass) and
flies and lands so smoothly with flaps.

She’d only wish we had a high winger instead. I’ve looked at Cessna 172 wondering if I should go that way. My preference is for the Cherokee though. It burns
Mogas at 7 gallons/hr. I like the way it flies better. Two years ago, I did a total mechanical refurbishment, all new hoses, gutted the fuselage, replaced the rear seat base,
tank floats, engine mount rubber, firewall seals, rebuilt the starter, new starter ring, Concord battery, landing gear seals, fuel selector, alternator and a new Trig Mode C & S 1090
ads-b capable transponder, carpeting etc. The annual cost me $400.00 as an “owner assist”. The materials purchased passed $8000.00, so the Piper’s engine at 700 hours is
good for six or more years before overhaul.

I do look at another aircraft build, the RV12, but at age 75, that doesn’t seem practical. The Piper’s great fun and keeps me out of my wife’s hair.
I looked at the Davis aircraft before I began building my Cougar/Tailwind years ago and still think it’s a keen aircraft.

Wish you the very best Leroy,

Dear Larry,

Stay with the Cherokee. I flew a 140 Cherokee for 10 years and loved it. We didn’t have the MOgas STC but had no trouble with the engine. Bought it to $11,000 and sold it 10 years later for $22,000. I’m done building.

Regards,
Leroy Wheeler
