Hi, what is the best way to get tach information to an EFIS display? Would it be from the P-Lead off the ignition switch or does someone manufacture a device that can convert the info from the tach cable and send it electronically to the EFIS system? Also if you had up to 14 probes that could be used what would the ideal setup as far as number of EGT's, CHT's and their location. Thanks

Hi Joel
I used the GRT EFIS and really like the thing. I picked up the tach signal at the mag switches and ran each into a switch that selects L or R to send back up front to the forward (master) EFIS box. As I recall, GRT gives you a resistor to put in line with the signal from the mag.
For the temp senders, I am looking at all 9 EGT and 3 CHT. I wired senders for all 9 CHT because GRT told me 2 years ago that they were upping the channels to the EFIS to handle 9 + 9 from a radial. Still waiting for them to come through with that mod but don't really care if they don't. 3 CHT's seem like enough and they all run about the same. Having all the EGT's is good for knowing exactly what is going on with each cyl and for IDing where a fouled plug or ign wire might be.

The CHT probes are placed under the spark plugs much like a spark plug copper gasket.
