I have gotten some anomalies where turning the CDX-C90 off and on after
starting the vehicle fixes them. That's fine.

Here's where I'm at:

CDX-C90

RCA to

XDP4000X

into XDP4000X

Sony XA-300

iPod RCA'd into 300

I can't play a CD in the 90? I could before I hooked up the 4000?

I can't play radio (not that I give a rats ass - just adding for info) now.

Where have I gone wrong?

Jim

Jim, did you solve this problem?

If not, do you have an optical cable connected to the XDP from the C90 and
also analog RCAs going from the C90 to the XDP?

Do you have the XA-300 connected in the UniLink line directly from the HU
(and then the XDP connected to the XA-300) or do you have the C90 connected
directly to the XDP and then the XA connected to the changer port on the
XDP?

No not yet. Everything is a wreck in progress. I still haven't run my 2/0 to
the back. I was looking at fused options but they are so current limited. I
have been looking into conduit etc. I have everything piled in the passenger
floor right now.

No. I have buslink and RCA to the XDP4000X.

No - I didn't realize I could do this?

Hmm, interesting. Everything should be working okay, in that case... Are
there any changers involved in this install as well, or just the XA-300?

Yeah that's the correct way, actually. You probably *could* go the other
way (because the bus is quite good at sorting things out on its own--hence
why you can connect multiple MCAs in series or parallel without problems)
but going C90-->XA-->XDP might introduce problems so that's why I asked you.
But it looks like you have it right anyway.

Perhaps you just had something connected incorrectly somewhere when testing
it? If there's no changers you should have the following connections...

C90 to XDP Master Inputs: Analog RCAs from the FRONT outputs on the C90 +
UniLink (+ digital optical if you have the XA-211D). If only using analog,
be sure the C90 is in Analog output mode.

XA-300 to XDP Slave Inputs: Analog RCAs from the OUTPUT on the XA-300 +
UniLink from the output side as well.

Other connections on the XDP: +12V & GND (of course) and connect the
amplifiers' remote terminals to the REM terminal on the XDP (use a relay if
connecting more than 2 amplifiers); plus amp RCAs of course.

Nothing should be connected to UniLink input side on the XA-300, if there
are no changers in the system; this is not including the other (audio/USB
input side) of the XA-300 I mean--just referring to the UniLink connection
side.

Be sure to press the RESET button (on the C90 it might be software, I'm not
sure) on the HU after everything is connected up.

I'm sure you know all this but you might have made a small error somewhere
(it's pretty easy to do) which might have led to the disappearance of audio
from the HU.

Yeah the XA-211D (the new part number, old one was XA-210D IIRC) is still
available from Sony DAPC USA, I believe. It is often out of stock though,
IIRC.

Pricey little thing though, and it's proprietary so not easy to get around
using it (it is theoretically possible to build your own optical out for it,
but I don't think anyone has actually attempted it). I think it is like
$30? Rarely you'll see them on eBay as well, though the price usually isn't
any better (sometimes it's worse 'cause Sony is out of stock, lol).

But yes it is still possible to get them.
