I need some fight time in a 601 to meet insurance requirements.

Anyone in the WV area (OH, KY, VA, PA) know where I might get some time? I need 5 hrs.

I'm trying to put together a list of available planes. The closest I've got on the list so far is Forsyth Aviation operating at Montgomery County Airpark in Gaithersburg, MD

Thanks for this info. I just called about it. They are having a picnic
tomorrow afternoon to show off the plane. I'm going to try to make it.
This plane is closer to my home than the place I'm training now so this
could really work out great!

BTW, this is the ch650XL that was at OshKosh.

Glad to here it. Make sure you give us a report on it when you get around to flying it. If it is the plane I'm thinking it is more over avioniced (is that a word?) than Jay's plane is.

Well, mine's not over-equipped... Smile

but yeah, N117FA is probably the best equipped Zodiac AMD's built, with a
GNS530W, an SL30, and an Aspen Avionics PFD. I'm jealous, though I do wonder
what they did for an autopilot.

If I get a few tens of thousands of dollars to spare, I might upgrade mine
to almost that standard (thogh I'll keep the 430 rather than upgrade to a
530). All I'd have to do is add the Aspen, hook the 430 up to it, then
replace the Sl40 with an SL30 and replace the NAV head to one cmpatible with
the SL30.

It's full IFR with Aspen TSO'ed glass. He loves the plane, the only
downside being the disappointing 490lb useful load. This could make
it hard-to-impossible for me to get instruction in it. He's still
trying to figure out where all the weight is. He said he flew seven
hours in one day returning the delivery pilot and was less tired than
a similar amount of time in a 737.

I used to question the decision of putting the O-200 in the AMD due to
weight. After not flying for 2 months while waiting for the Rotax in
my trainer to get fixed, I'm starting to appreciate the clunky old
Conti' a little more. I can certainly understand the attraction of
the engine in a training environment.

Down from 295 to 265, shooting for 240 so I can fly the 650!

Jay in I'm not mistaken the Aspen can act as the nav head for the SL30.

Yes, it could, if it wasn't acting as the nav head for the 430...
